GREAT WAYS TO MAKE A CHRISTMAS CONTRIBUTION

Fundamentally, Christmas time is all about giving and promoting a sense of good will toward everyone – that includes family, friends and strangers alike. Of course, in our modern society a lot of people associate Christmas with money because it’s perhaps the most expensive time of year for a lot of them.

Because of this, it might slip the mind of some to spread the good will and make a contribution to charity, but what they don’t know is that the smallest contribution can make the biggest difference, especially at Christmas time.

As specialists in charity EPoS systems, we know of some ways in which you can make a charitable contribution without feeling you have to give away your Christmas shopping money.

Make a donation for free!

Did you know there is a charity out there called TheGivingMachine which enables customers to use its website to buy toys from over 2,000 outlets? It includes big wigs such as Amazon, John Lewis and Hamleys, with the commission they make on the sales being passed on to a chosen charity or another good cause.

The donation they give can be as large as 10% of the sale price, but you pay the same amount you would if you decided to buy directly from the retailer. So, there’s no reason not to!

Similar websites include charity Care2Save which hands 80% of any commission earned from visiting shops through its website to a charity of the shopper’s choice.

Volunteer!

Volunteering is one of the best ways to make a donation not only to charity but to the world as a whole – it promotes the idea that there’s more to life than money, and that’s especially true to those in need.

Christmas time can be a very lonely time for those who aren’t as fortunate as us, so giving up some of your time can mean the world to some people, and it’s free!

So head down to your nearest shelter and see if they need a hand.

Shop at charity shops!

If your relatives are easy to buy for, or you want to get them something special but you’re on a budget, then doing your Christmas shopping at a charity shop might be the best way for you to save some money.

You can find some of the best items in charity shops at awesomely low prices so what can you lose? You might even find someone’s dream Christmas present.

And of course, much of the money goes to charity!

Just remember, Christmas might be a happy time for you, but there are a lot of people out there that aren’t as lucky, so spare some thought to them.
